Drive from royal Hue, and through the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), to the caves of Phong Nha. During this tour we cross the border between the former North and South Vietnam. We stay one night near an army base and visit several other locations that were important during the Vietnam War. On the way we take a look at traditional villages and workshops, and impressive mountain temples.

Sights & Highlights

Day 1

Hue to Khe Sanh (130 KM)

After breakfast we visit the Imperial City and the seven-storey high Thien Mu Pagoda. On our way to the Vinh Moc tunnels we drive along the coast to the beaches Cua Tung Queen and Cua Viet. We stop at the Quang Tri citadel and Long Hung church, where the North and the South attacked each other for 81 days in 1972. By crossing the river Ben Hai over the Hien Luong bridge we also cross the border between the former North and South Vietnam. We visit Truong Son National Cemetery, a cemetery for soldiers who fell during the Vietnam War, and Camp Caroll, a former American naval base. We spend the night in Khe Sanh.

Day 2

Khe Sanh to Phong Nha (180 KM)

Today a long, but beautiful ride is on the program. We drive over the Sa Mu mountain pass and continue on the western Ho Chi Minh Trail with its spectacular views: lots of jungle, waterfalls and traditional villages of the Paco tribe and Van Kieu tribe, two ethnic minorities. We stop in one of the villages so you can learn about the local life. On the way we enjoy a delicious Vietnamese lunch.

The tour ends at your accommodation in Phong Nha.

The program above is a general description of the route. All tours are subject to change based on your Easy Rider’s own insight, depending on factors as weather, traffic and time. Included

Original Easy Rider/English speaking guide with years of experience as an Easy Rider and a lot of knowledge of the area – motorbike (150 – 175cc) – petrol – overnight stays in a hotel, bungalow or homestay – breakfast – helmet and protective clothing – damage insurance

Additional costs

Admission fees, depending on your own wishes and preferences – all lunch and dinner meals, drinks and any other personal expenses. Expect your daily costs to be about €10/$10 per person for two meals and drinks throughout the day.

Pick-up & Drop-off

All tours start between 8 and 9 AM in the morning. After booking with us, one of our Easy Riders will contact you with the exact pick-up time. Your Easy Rider will pick you up at your hostel or hotel in the departure city.

At the end of your tour – usually late afternoon, before dinner – you’ll be dropped off at the accommodation of your choice in the destination city. Make reservations before arrival, because our riders only make one stop for drop-off.

Arriving by bus or train?

We can arrange pick-ups and drop-offs at bus or train stations if you arrive before 9 AM in the morning. Start your tour fresh of the night bus or train – we’ll stop for breakfast along the way!
Provide us with the necessary information (departure and arrival station, name of the bus company, estimated time of arrival) by adding it to the booking form.

If you have a flight on the night your tour ends, our guides are happy to drop you off at the airport of the arrival destination. Just make sure you allow enough time for check-in and boarding.

HASSLE-FREE

Safety first

Your safety is our primary concern. During the tour you wear a helmet and protective gear for your upper body and knees – even if you are sitting on the back of the motorbike.
