Sights & Highlights

Day 1

Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Xoai (140 KM)

We drive to the Cu Chi tunnels before the tour busses arrive. Here you can see with your own eyes how the Vietcong outsmarted the American soldiers. On the Ho Chi Minh trail we drive to Dong Xoai for the first night. Along the way we stop at a workshop where rice paper is made by hand, a rubber plantation, and the local market.

Day 2

Dong Xoai to Buon Ma Thuot (180 KM)

Today you will learn more about agriculture in Vietnam. We’ll have pho and ca phe for breakfast. We visit plantations of passion fruit, cashew nuts, tea, rubber and pepper. High in the mountains live a number of local tribes, of which we visit the H’mong. We continue our way to the Dray Nur waterfall near Buon Ma Thuot – one of the largest in the Central Highlands. Today, we spend the night in a ‘long house’ of the Ede people (homestay). We will prepare our own dinner during a cooking class!

Day 3

Buon Ma Thuot to Lak Lake (90 KM)

After breakfast we get back on the motorbike to explore the local life in the mountains. Along rice fields we drive to the village of Ede, where we cross the river by ferry to meet people from the Tay tribe. We drive on to the Jun villages around Lak Lake. Here live the M’nong, one of the many mountain tribes of Vietnam. One of the M’nong families will take us fishing on the lake.

Day 4

Lak Lake to Mui Ne (150 KM + 3 hours by bus)

On our last morning, we will learn more about the life of the M’nong. Passing one of the floating fishing villages, we drive to the Krong No Highland market. We continue our way through the mountains and visit a rice winery, a silk factory, a mushroom farm and the imposing Elephant Waterfall. At the Linh An temple, you take a walk through the garden to admire the giant smiling Buddha. For a fresh cup of coffee, we will stop at a coffee plantation – here you can even try the famous weasel coffee.

In Di Linh, we will drop you off at the bus station. A few hours later, around 6 PM, you will arrive in Mui Ne.

Additional costs

Pick-up & Drop-off

All tours start between 8 and 9 AM in the morning. After booking with us, one of our Easy Riders will contact you with the exact pick-up time. Your Easy Rider will pick you up at your hostel or hotel in the departure city.

At the end of your tour – before 3 PM – you’ll be dropped off at the bus to Mui Ne in Di Linh. You’ll arrive in Mui Ne around 6 PM. A word of advice: make reservations before arrival, so you’ll have somewhere to navigate to when you arrive at night.

Arriving by bus or train?

We can arrange pick-ups and drop-offs at bus or train stations if you arrive before 9 AM in the morning. Start your tour fresh of the night bus or train – we’ll stop for breakfast along the way!
Provide us with the necessary information (departure and arrival station, name of the bus company, estimated time of arrival) by adding it to the booking form.

What is an Easy Rider motorbike tour?

An Easy Rider is a Vietnamese guide on a motorbike. Our Easy Riders are English-speaking, licensed tour guides who know the ins and outs of Vietnamese roads, nature, history and culture. Touring with an Easy Rider means that you comfortably sit on the back of the motorbike behind the guide – wearing protective gear – while you travel from one city to the next, stopping regularly to enjoy sights, local experiences, drinks and meals.

Tours start between 8 and 9 AM, and end between 3 and 5 PM. Your Eay Riders picks you up and drops you off at your accommodation. Multiple day tours include overnight stays.

How to book (availability, payment)

Availability

Booking
On the tour page, fill in the number of people you book for – choose between sitting behind the guide and self-driving – and select the date(s). Click ‘book now’ and follow the steps to complete your booking.

Payment
You pay a small deposit by online payment; the remaining amount you pay at the start of the tour.

Confirmation

How far in advance should I book?
You can book tours departing from Dalat, Hoi An and Hue shortly beforehand. For popular multiple-day tours (like the Ha Giang Loop), we advice you to book ahead. It’s okay if you don’t know your pick-up or drop-off location yet, you can let us know later.

Self-driving & International Driving Permit

On the tour, you can drive yourself if you are:

a party of at least two people; on every tour at least one person sits behind an Easy Rider.
in possession of a valid motorcycle license (A1 or A2), and;
in possession of a valid 1968-version of the International Driving Permit (IDP), obtained in your home country;

We will make sure to get you a well maintained motorbike (manual or clutch) and protective gear. The rate for sitting on the back or driving your own bike is the same, gasoline is included.

For safety reasons, we don’t allow passengers on the motorbikes for self-driving.

Luggage

Each person can bring one (1) backpack or suitcase (max. 20 kg / 44 lbs) and one (1) daypack or handbag on the tour. Even pretty big hard scale suitcases can be tied to the back of the motorbike as long as they are not over 20 kg (44 lbs); it’s more about weight distribution than size.

All luggage is put in waterproof bags and tied to the front or back of the motorcycle.

Is it a private tour or do we ride in groups?

On most occassions, it’s just you and your Easy Rider(s): a private tour.

During peak seasons (July & August, November – February), we sometimes combine multiple bookings to a small group. This group then consists of all the guests who have booked the same route on the same date(s). This is most common on our popular day tours (covering the Hai Van Pass).

Our Ha Giang Loop tours are always private tours. For us, this is an important way to distinguish our tours in this region from the awfully big groups some operators ride with.
