Can I drive the motorbike myself?
Yes, it’s possible to drive the motorbike yourself if following conditions are met:
- You are in possession of a valid International Driving Permit (IDP):
- (1) You need to acquire the IDP in your home country – it is not possible to obtain an IDP once you are in Vietnam;
- (2) Only the 1968-version of the IDP is valid in Vietnam – beware not all countries offer this version (i.e. USA, Canada, Australia);
- (3) If you’re driving a motorbike without the proper license, you can be fined and this can affect the validity of your (travel)insurance. Both consequences are at the driver’s own risk.
- You are a party of at least two people; on every tour at least one person sits behind an Easy Rider.
Self-drivers will ride behind the guide, following him. In case of bigger parties, another guide will close the column. We will make sure to get you a well maintained motorbike and protective gear. Gasoline is included in the rate. The rate for sitting on the back or driving your own bike is the same.
On every tour at least one person sits behind an Easy Rider, but you can switch drivers during the tour if you would like to share self-driving among yourselves.
Can I sit behind my self-driving travel companion?
No, for safety reasons, we don’t allow passengers on the motorbike(s) for self-driving – there’s always one person sitting behind one of our Easy Riders if you book for two (2) people with self-driving. Of course you can alternate amongst yourselves who is driving themselves during the trip.
